Privacy Policy

LearnThenPlay is installed and configured on a child's Android tablet by a parent or legal guardian. It helps the parent require time in selected learning apps before other apps unlock.

Information stored on the tablet

The app stores a salted hash of the parent PIN, a salted hash of any optional offline recovery code, parent-selected learning goals and app rules, launcher settings, daily progress, and foreground-app and interaction signals used to measure attended learning time and enforce those rules. Detailed usage history, screen text, typed content, passwords, messages, contacts, photos, and location are not sent to LearnThenPlay.

Parent account, recovery, and security

Firebase Authentication, operated by Google, provides the parent email/password account, email verification, and password reset. LearnThenPlay does not receive or store the plaintext password. The verified account is associated with an opaque tablet identifier.

LearnThenPlay may record Parent Settings access, repeated failed PIN attempts, PIN changes or resets, and loss of required protection settings. Records contain the event type, time, shortened device identifier, and protection status. They do not contain PINs, recovery codes, child screen content, or detailed app-usage history. A notice may be emailed to the verified parent.

Optional linked-tablet sync

When a parent links tablets, separate anonymous Firebase identifiers are used. Synced information includes parent-selected Android package names and display names, time goals, reset time, shared unlock/override state, and opaque device membership identifiers. PINs, offline recovery codes, and minute-by-minute progress are not synced. Unlinking stops future synchronization on that tablet.

Android access

Default Home presents the parent-configured launcher. Usage Access identifies foreground-app duration. Accessibility identifies foreground apps and interaction signals and returns a child from parent-blocked apps. Optional notification access displays local badges without reading or uploading notification text. Internet access supports the parent account, recovery/security notices, and optional tablet linking.

The app asks for the parent's agreement before opening Android settings for Usage Access or Accessibility. Revoking these capabilities stops full protection or time measurement.

Use and sharing

Information is used only for account recovery, security notices, parental controls, and optional linked-tablet synchronization. We do not sell information, use it for advertising, or share it for third-party marketing. Firebase and related Google services process cloud data as service providers.

Retention and deletion

Daily progress resets at the parent-selected time. Local information remains until app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled; Android backup is disabled.

Use Parent Settings → Delete parent account to delete the Firebase parent account, protected-device registrations, parent security records, and queued security emails. Local rules, PIN, progress, and separately linked-tablet data remain so the device is not unexpectedly unlocked or reconfigured.

For deletion without tablet access or linked-tablet cloud deletion, follow the account deletion instructions.

Children

The product is directed to parents and guardians, who configure its controls. It processes limited app-activity information on the supervised tablet only to apply the parent's choices. It has no ads.
